Diglipur: A sustained, intelligence-led operation through the dense forests of North Andaman has ended with the apprehension of 12 suspected intruders, in a major joint security success for the Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) and the Andaman & Nicobar Police. Codenamed ‘Op Falcon’, the operation was launched on August 9 following credible and actionable inputs about the presence of suspected intruders in the remote region. After nine days of intensive search, surveillance and area domination, the operation finally culminated.
According to Headquarters ANC, the operation brought together personnel and assets from all components of the Command along with the Andaman & Nicobar Police. Quick Reaction Teams, New Generation Mini UAVs, surveillance helicopters and trained tracker dogs were deployed to detect, track and corner the suspects in the challenging forest terrain.
The operation combined land, maritime and aerial surveillance, enabling security forces to progressively narrow the search area while maintaining sustained domination of the vulnerable zone.
Despite difficult terrain and harsh environmental conditions, ground teams continued the pursuit with aerial surveillance and specialised tracking assets, eventually leading to the apprehension of all 12 suspected intruders.
The apprehended individuals and recovered material are being dealt with as per established procedures, while further investigation is underway.
The ANC said the successful culmination of Op Falcon underscored its operational preparedness, surveillance reach and jointmanship, while demonstrating the ability of security agencies to mount swift, coordinated responses to emerging threats in remote areas of the archipelago.
The Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity and security of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands through intelligence-led operations, sustained surveillance, rapid response and close inter-agency coordination.
