Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram): Tightening its crackdown on illegal occupation of Government land, the South Andaman District Administration has removed unauthorised structures and fencing from multiple locations, reclaiming nearly 0.20 hectares of encroached land in Atam Pahar, Brookshabad and Austinabad.
During an inspection at Atam Pahar in Garacharma village on November 3, Revenue officials detected four temporary sheds and fencing erected illegally on Government land. A subsequent eviction drive removed the structures and fencing, restoring approximately 1,000 square metres of land to the Government.
The enforcement action continued on November 5 at Brookshabad and Austinabad, where one temporary structure each, along with unauthorised fencing, was removed. The two drives together cleared approximately 0.10 hectares of Government revenue land and restored it to its original status.
Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy towards encroachment, the Administration hascautioned the public against unauthorised occupation of Government land and urged citizens to report violations. Complaints can be lodged with the District Control Room at 03192-240127, 238881 or 1070, or through WhatsApp at 9531888844. The identity of informants will be kept confidential, the Administration said.
