Port Blair(Sri Vijay Puram): A promise of Government jobs allegedly turned into a trail of payments, unfulfilled assurances and mounting complaints, prompting Pahargaon Police to register a cheating case against three persons. FIR No. 0130/2026 was registered on August 17 under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, following an enquiry into allegations that money was collected from multiple individuals on the purported promise of securing Government employment.
According to the enquiry report reproduced in the FIR, statements of several complainants were recorded. The complainants alleged that accused Sharif Khan, allegedly in association with Usha Kumari and Rinku Mala Mondal, induced them to part with substantial sums of money by promising to arrange Government jobs.
The alleged payments were reportedly made through cash, cheques and online transfers. In some instances, agreements, promissory notes and undertakings were also executed, with assurances that appointments would be secured or the money refunded within a specified period.
However, the complainants alleged that neither the promised jobs were arranged nor the money returned. When they sought appointments or refunds, the accused allegedly passed responsibility among themselves and continued to give assurances.
Pahargaon Police have taken up the investigation to ascertain the facts, financial transactions and the respective roles of those named in the FIR.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and registration of an FIR does not by itself establish the guilt of the accused.
