Billiground: Alert Police Patrol Leads to Seizure of Suspected Venison in Nimbudera

Billiground: A routine police patrol in Nimbudera on Saturday led to the seizure of around 6 kilograms of suspected venison, highlighting the continued efforts of the North and Middle Andaman Police to curb wildlife-related offences and illegal trade in protected animal products.

Acting on specific information received during beat patrolling, personnel of Police Station Billiground conducted a surprise inspection at a chicken shop in Nimbudera, where suspected venison was reportedly being sold. During the search, the police team recovered approximately 6 kg of the suspected meat and immediately initiated legal action.

The seized material was taken into custody under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. After completing all prescribed legal formalities, the suspected venison was handed over to officials of the Betapur Forest Range for further investigation and necessary action.

The swift operation reflects the vigilance of the North and Middle Andaman Police and their close coordination with the Forest Department in tackling offences that threaten the region’s wildlife resources.

Police have also appealed to members of the public to assist law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information regarding wildlife crimes or any other illegal activities. Information can be passed to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344. Authorities have assured that the identity of informers will be kept strictly confidential and deserving informants will be suitably rewarded.
