Port Blair : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed Dr Arun K. Mallik as its new State President for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, marking a change in the leadership of the party’s island unit. The appointment was communicated by the party on August 10, 2026.
Thanking the AAP national leadership, including Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh, for the confidence reposed in him, Dr Mallik said he would work to strengthen the party’s organisation across the Union Territory.

The new State President is expected to focus on expanding the party’s organisational network and taking up issues concerning Islanders, including employment, education, infrastructure and connectivity. The appointment gives Mallik a larger organisational mandate as AAP looks to emerge as a more visible political force in the Union Territory.
