Port Blair: A woman has accused three persons of sexual harassment, criminal trespass, assault, criminal intimidation and defamation following an alleged incident at her residence in Junglighat, prompting Aberdeen Police to launch an investigation. One of the accused was taken into custody by a Police Control Room (PCR) team after the woman sought emergency assistance.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on July 19 when the woman was alone at home while her parents were away on the mainland. She alleged that Adesh Kumar repeatedly called her before arriving at her residence, entering the house without permission and allegedly making unwanted sexual advances while under the influence of alcohol. Despite her requests, he allegedly refused to leave.
The complainant said she stepped out of the house and dialled the police emergency helpline. While waiting for the PCR team, she alleged that the accused’s wife assaulted and verbally abused her in public, while another person, identified as Mohammad Altaf, allegedly threatened and intimidated her.
A PCR team reached the spot, took Adesh Kumar into custody and advised the woman to lodge a formal complaint at Aberdeen Police Station. Seeking registration of an FIR and police protection, the complainant alleged that the incident caused her severe mental trauma and fear for her safety.
Police confirmed that the complaint has been received and that an investigation is in progress.
Officials said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
The allegations are under investigation and have not yet been independently verified by the police.
