Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram): With poor road conditions threatening festive travel, Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee Campaign Committee Chairman G. Bhasker has urged the Directorate of Shipping Services to operate special sailings to Diglipur ahead of Durga Puja.

In a letter addressed to DSS, Bhasker flagged that the heavy festive rush between Sri Vijaya Puram and Diglipur will easily overwhelm current transport infrastructure, leaving patients, senior citizens, and holiday commuters stranded by deteriorating highways.

To clear the anticipated bottleneck throughout October, the ANTCC leader pressed the administration to ramp up sailing frequencies and immediately deploy larger passenger vessels, specifically recommending MV Bharat Seema and MV Sentinel, to ensure islanders reach home safely for the celebrations.
