Port Blair: The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has stepped up its efforts to transform the Islands into a world-class tourism destination, with a strong focus on expanding hospitality infrastructure and developing high-value tourism assets across several key locations.
A high-level review meeting chaired by Admiral D. K. Joshi, Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at Raj Niwas, reviewed a comprehensive presentation by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation (ANIIDCO) on the progress of major tourism and infrastructure initiatives aimed at enhancing the Islands’ tourism potential.
The review covered plans for augmenting existing infrastructure in Great Nicobar Island while also assessing the status of several marquee hospitality and tourism projects proposed across the archipelago. These include premium tourism developments at Radhanagar Beach on Swaraj Dweep, Hornbill Estate, Raman Bagicha, Karmatang, North Bay, and the proposed world-class Golf Course and Leisure Destination at Rangachang.
The projects are envisioned to significantly strengthen the Islands’ tourism ecosystem by creating modern hospitality facilities, improving visitor experiences, attracting greater private investment, and generating employment opportunities for local residents. The initiatives are also expected to diversify tourism offerings beyond conventional sightseeing by promoting high-end leisure, eco-tourism and destination-based experiences.
The review reflects the Administration’s continued emphasis on developing sustainable, tourist-friendly infrastructure to position the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as a globally competitive tourism destination while ensuring balanced and planned growth. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, along with senior officers of the Administration and officials of ANIIDCO.
