TDP takes Island issues to Andhra CM: Naidu assures support for development

Port Blair: From connectivity and infrastructure to employee regularisation and the welfare of Telugu-speaking islanders, a TDP delegation from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands carried a basket of key concerns to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who assured all possible support for the development and welfare of the Islands. The delegation, led by its State President N. Manikya Rao Yadav, met Naidu at the Chief Minister’s Office in Velagapudi, Amaravati, on June 23 and pressed for greater developmental cooperation and welfare initiatives for the Islands.According to a party statement, the delegation raised a range of issues affecting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, including connectivity, infrastructure development, employee welfare and opportunities for economic collaboration with Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister reportedly listened to the concerns in detail and assured the delegation of all possible support and cooperation for the welfare and development of the Islands.Among the key issues discussed was the need to strengthen ties between Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to facilitate developmental activities and improve connectivity and infrastructure support. The delegation also advocated enhanced cooperation in investment, trade and tourism, sectors considered vital for the Islands’ long-term growth. Special emphasis was laid on the welfare and advancement of the Telugu-speaking community residing in the Islands. The delegation further sought the regularisation of one-third appointed employees working in various departments of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration.The meeting also touched upon organisational matters and electoral preparedness ahead of upcoming elections in the Islands. Thanking the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister for his time and attention, the delegation appreciated what it described as his continued concern for the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The TDP termed the interaction cordial and constructive, expressing confidence that it would further strengthen the longstanding socio-cultural and developmental relationship between Andhra Pradesh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
