Siddhant Nambiar wins State Science Seminar, heads to national stage

Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram): Kumar Siddhant Nambiar, a Class IX student of Navy Children School, Minnie Bay, has emerged winner of the State Level Science Seminar, earning the opportunity to represent the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at the National Level Science Seminar in New Delhi next month. The State-level competition, organised by the Deputy Director Education (Science) at Shiksha Sadan, Sri Vijaya Puram, centred on the theme “Indian Energy Basket 2047: Prospects and Challenges”, bringing young minds into a discussion on India’s long-term energy choices and challenges.

Siddhant Nambiar will now take the Islands’ perspective to the National Level Science Seminar on October 30, 2026, at the National Science Centre, New Delhi, where he will compete alongside students from across the country. Six students from schools representing all three districts of the Islands participated in the State-level contest. The participants made presentations on the prescribed theme and faced an interactive question-and-answer session before being assessed by the jury.

Kumar Abhinav Nair of Class X, Government Secondary School, Keralapuram, secured the runner-up position. Other participating schools were PM SHRI GMSSS Hutbay, VKZPV Diglipur, PM SHRI GSSS Vijay Nagar and GSSS Malacca. S. Suresh Kumar, State Project Officer (SS), Shiksha Sadan, was the chief guest at the event.

Siddhant’s selection for the national seminar places a Class IX student from the Islands on a larger scientific platform and provides an opportunity to present his understanding of India’s energy transition and the challenges associated with building the country’s energy basket by 2047.
