One arrested with 208 gms of Ganja at Shyamnagar

Diglipur: A police operation at Shyam Nagar has led to the registration of an NDPS case after Diglipur Police allegedly recovered around 208 grams of suspected ganja from a 46-year-old man on August 26. Acting on credible information, a police team moved swiftly after receiving inputs that Sushanta Sarkar, a resident of Shyam Nagar, was allegedly carrying a substantial quantity of ganja and was likely to meet prospective customers near the bus stand close to Government Middle School, Shyam Nagar.

The raiding team, accompanied by a Gazetted Officer and two independent witnesses, proceeded to the location and intercepted Sarkar at the bus stand. During a personal search, police allegedly recovered a transparent polythene packet containing suspected ganja.

According to the FIR, the seized substance weighed approximately 208 grams, including the weight of the polythene cover.

The suspected contraband was seized and sealed at the spot in accordance with procedure. The search and seizure proceedings were also videographed and photographed through the e-Sakshya application, the FIR stated.

Sarkar was subsequently brought to Diglipur Police Station along with the seized material for further legal action and investigation.nA case has been registered under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation is underway.
