Niel Island (Shaheed Dweep): In a move to fast-track long-pending land-related cases and address civic concerns, the South Andaman District Administration has deputed a surveyor at Shaheed Dweep and announced an Islander Card Correction Camp from November 6, following a Janta Darshan held at Neil Kendra on Wednesday.

The outreach programme, conducted under the directions of the Lieutenant Governor and chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, provided residents an opportunity to raise grievances directly with the administration. Interacting with PRI representatives, departmental officials and members of the public, the Deputy Commissioner directed Heads of Departments to take prompt action on the issues raised and ensure effective delivery of essential services.

To expedite pending subdivision, land demarcation and land set-apart cases, a surveyor has been deputed at Patwarkhana for necessary field-level action. An Islander Card Correction Camp will also begin there on November 6 to facilitate rectification of eligible residents’ records. The proposed Bharatpur and Sitapur Beach Management Plans also came up for discussion, with residents’ concerns and suggestions taken on record for consideration by the concerned departments.
