Delhi/Port Blair: In a move aimed at offering greater flexibility and affordability to passengers, airline carrier IndiGo on Wednesday introduced ‘IndiGo Lite’, a new entry-level economy fare designed for travellers carrying only cabin baggage. The new fare allows customers to pay only for the services they choose to use. The airline said the IndiGo Lite fare will be available for booking exclusively through its direct channels, including the official website, mobile application and contact centre, from Wednesday. The fare will be valid for travel from July 15, 2026 onwards.
According to IndiGo, the new fare will be applicable across its domestic and international non-stop routes for one-way, round-trip and multicity bookings, and will be available for both adult and child passengers. Under the Lite fare, passengers will receive an auto-assigned seat at no additional cost along with a cabin baggage allowance of up to 7 kg. Customers can further customise their journey by purchasing optional services such as check-in baggage, preferred seats, meals and priority services like Fast Forward.
The airline said these add-on services can be purchased up to one hour before departure through IndiGo’s website or at the airport.
Explaining the rationale behind the new offering, IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh said the airline continues to evolve its products in line with the changing expectations of travellers. He said IndiGo Lite has been designed for customers who prefer to travel light and pay only for the services they require, adding that the initiative strengthens the airline’s product portfolio while reinforcing its commitment to making air travel more accessible and affordable.
