Port Blair: Encouraging children to embrace sports and constructive activities as a pathway to a healthy and disciplined future, Director General of Police Ravindra Singh Yadav on Sunday called upon youngsters to stay away from drug abuse and other social evils while addressing the valedictory function of the ‘UDAAN Summer Camp-2026’ organised by the Andaman & Nicobar Police.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP underlined the vital role of sports and constructive extracurricular activities in nurturing disciplined, confident and responsible citizens. He urged children to actively participate in sports and other creative pursuits, noting that such activities not only promote physical and mental well-being but also help steer young minds away from drug abuse and other social evils.
Held from May 18 to June 29, the camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from 341 children, who received training and exposure in a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, chess, yoga and meditation, dance, painting, sketching, tailoring and boxing under the guidance of experienced coaches and departmental personnel.
