Car Nicobar: Sports and community spirit came together at Lapathy Beach as the Nicobar District Police successfully hosted a two-day Beach Volleyball Tournament on July 18 and 19 in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, honouring his legacy of unity while encouraging youth participation and stronger police-public ties.
The tournament drew enthusiastic participation from teams representing the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Education Department, the Andaman & Nicobar Police and several village teams from across Car Nicobar, transforming the beach into a vibrant arena of competitive sport and camaraderie.
In the men’s competition, the Tamaloo Village team emerged champions after an impressive performance, while the Andaman & Nicobar Police team finished runners-up. In the women’s category, Arong Village claimed the championship title, with the Andaman & Nicobar Police team securing the runners-up spot.
The winning and runner-up teams were presented with cash prizes in recognition of their performances, while all participating teams received certificates appreciating their sportsmanship and enthusiastic involvement.
The tournament concluded on an upbeat note, reinforcing the values of teamwork, unity and healthy competition. Nicobar District Police reaffirmed its commitment to organising more such community-centric initiatives aimed at fostering stronger public relations and providing constructive avenues for youth engagement.
