Port Blair: Aspiring medical students heading to their examination centers in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands won’t have to worry about commuting costs or logistics this week. In a major relief initiative, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) has announced free transportation facilities across its entire network for students appearing for the upcoming NEET (UG) – 2026 exam.
As per details available in an official communication, the free travel window opens on June 18, 2026, and will run through the exam day on June 21, 2026. This special waiver applies to all candidates appearing for the NEET-UG 2026 exam scheduled to take place at Sri Vijaya Puram. It covers all DSS-operated vessels and ferries running in the Inter-Island, Foreshore, and Harbour Ferry sectors.
To avail themselves of this facility, students simply need to present their original NEET (UG)-2026 Admit Card issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA) along with a valid photo identity card to the officials upon boarding.
The administration aims to ensure a completely smooth, stress-free commute from the various scattered islands to the main examination hubs and back. Along with the logistics support, the Directorate has extended its warmest wishes for success to all the medical aspirants tackling the crucial exam this Sunday.
