Mayabunder: The North & Middle Andaman District Administration has stepped up efforts to ensure comprehensive medical care for passengers injured in the STS bus accident near Kishorinagar on the Diglipur–Paschimsagar route, with one student requiring specialised treatment airlifted to G.B. Pant Hospital in Sri Vijaya Puram on Friday.
The accident, which occurred on Thursday, involved 58 passengers, including school students and civilians. A total of 28 passengers sustained injuries. While 25 injured persons are undergoing treatment at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Diglipur, three students with minor injuries were treated at the PHC, Kishorinagar and discharged after first aid. One student, who required specialised ENT care, was referred to G.B. Pant Hospital and airlifted for advanced treatment.
Reviewing the post-accident response, the Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman visited the Sub-District Hospital, Diglipur, to assess the condition of the injured. The Deputy Commissioner interacted with patients, their family members and attending doctors, and directed the Health Department to ensure the best possible medical care without any inconvenience to the victims.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the emergency response and relief measures put in place by the District Administration following the accident.
Reiterating its commitment to public welfare, the District Administration stated that it will continue to closely monitor the condition of the injured while ensuring timely medical assistance, prompt grievance redressal and efficient public service delivery across the district.
