Port Blair(Sri Vijaya Puram): Concerns and deep displeasure have been expressed over the pathetic condition of National Highway 4 in the Andaman Islands, prompting Andaman & Nicobar MP Bishnu Pada Ray to seek urgent intervention from Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Ray raised the issue during a meeting with Gadkari in New Delhi and submitted a detailed letter highlighting the difficulties reportedly being faced by commuters due to the poor condition of certain NH stretches in North and Middle Andaman.
The MP sought directions to the agencies concerned to expedite ongoing National Highway works and ensure that completed and existing stretches are regularly maintained and kept safe and roadworthy for motorists and commuters.
Ray stressed the need for timely execution of the works and sustained maintenance of the highway network, particularly in view of its importance for connectivity between settlements in North and Middle Andaman.
