Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram): Strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving medical services in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands figured prominently during a meeting between Lieutenant Governor Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda in New Delhi.
During the interaction, the Lieutenant Governor discussed the need to strengthen existing healthcare services and expand medical facilities across the Union Territory, highlighting the importance of addressing the healthcare requirements of the geographically dispersed islands.
Taking note of the issues raised, the Union Health Minister directed that an early meeting be convened between officials of the Union Health Ministry and the A&N Administration to examine health-related concerns and work towards appropriate interventions.
The proposed meeting is expected to provide a platform for coordinated discussions on addressing the Islands’ healthcare requirements and strengthening the delivery of medical services.
