Port Blair: With the extension of the application deadline for two key government recruitment examinations leaving a section of aspirants overage, senior Congress leader G. Bhasker has urged the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to grant a one-time relaxation in the upper age limit to ensure that eligible candidates are not denied an opportunity to compete.
In a representation submitted to the Chief Secretary, the Chairman of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) welcomed the Administration’s decision to extend the last date for submission of applications for the Combined Matric Level Examination and Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination, describing it as a positive step that has benefited thousands of job seekers.
However, Bhasker pointed out that while the application window had been extended, the prescribed upper age limit remained unchanged, rendering several candidates ineligible during the extended period despite otherwise meeting the eligibility criteria.
Arguing that the extension of the deadline should be matched by a corresponding relaxation in the age limit, he appealed to the Administration to grant a one-time concession so that deserving youth are not deprived of government employment opportunities due to a technicality. He said such a move would uphold fairness in the recruitment process and provide equal opportunity to candidates affected by the revised application schedule.
