Port Blair: Stepping up its campaign against illegal occupation of Government land, the South Andaman District Administration on Thursday reclaimed over 5,425 square metres of prime Government Revenue land at Chidiyatapu village that had allegedly been encroached upon despite being earmarked for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
During the eviction drive, officials removed unauthorized fencing erected on the Government land and restored the entire area to Government possession. To safeguard the reclaimed property from fresh encroachments, Revenue authorities immediately demarcated the land by erecting boundary pillars and marking its boundaries on the ground.
The Administration said the anti-encroachment campaign forms part of its sustained initiative to protect public assets and ensure that Government land is utilized only for its intended public purpose. It added that continuous monitoring and strict enforcement are being carried out across South Andaman to identify and remove illegal occupations of Government land.
Issuing a stern warning, the District Administration urged the public to refrain from encroaching upon Government land or undertaking any unauthorized construction, stating that violators would face stringent legal action under the applicable laws.
