Port Blair: A long-abandoned fibre boat that had remained partially submerged near the Sports Complex at Marina Beach for several years has finally been removed by the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC), restoring the area’s appearance and eliminating a long-standing source of concern.

The operation was carried out following directions issued by the Secretary, SVPMC, during an inspection held as part of the Environment Day Celebration Week. After securing the required permission and No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Directorate of IP&T, the Council launched the removal drive under the supervision of the Sanitary Inspector of Ward No. 5.

The operation was supported by the Area Supervisor, Safai Mitras and the Council’s Mechanical Section, which deployed an excavator to remove the dismantled vessel.
