Port Blair: The South Andaman District Administration has intensified its drive to clear long-pending revenue matters, disposing of 79 land diversion cases in special Camp Courts held at Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep, in a move aimed at bringing government services closer to the people and reducing delays in revenue administration.
As part of the initiative to fast-track pending land diversion applications relating to Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil, Revenue Camp Courts were conducted on July 11 at the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Swaraj Dweep, and on July 13 at the Patwari Office, Shaheed Dweep. The proceedings were chaired by Kamaleshwar Rao S, Assistant Commissioner, South Andaman.
The outreach programme witnessed an encouraging response from applicants. During the hearings, 65 land diversion cases at Swaraj Dweep and 14 cases at Shaheed Dweep, all pending up to June 2026, were examined and disposed of in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
The special Camp Courts were organised to ensure speedy, transparent and accessible disposal of revenue matters at the field level, sparing residents the need for repeated visits to government offices while facilitating prompt grievance redressal.
In another significant step, a special Camp Court held on July 12 at Swaraj Dweep Police Station disposed of 18 Unnatural Death (UD) cases, reflecting the Administration’s concerted efforts to reduce pendency across different branches of governance.
During his visit to Swaraj Dweep, the Assistant Commissioner also reviewed the progress of the Modernised Sea Port Terminal project, underlining the Administration’s focus on strengthening infrastructure alongside improving public service delivery.
Officials said the initiative has significantly streamlined the decision-making process, reduced the backlog of long-pending cases and provided timely relief to applicants. It also reflects the District Administration’s commitment to citizen-centric governance by making essential public services more accessible through field-level outreach.
The South Andaman District Administration has stated that such Revenue Camp Courts and outreach programmes will continue to be organised periodically to enhance administrative accessibility, ensure efficient delivery of public services and further reduce the pendency of revenue-related matters across the district.
