Port Blair: The ongoing campaign to reclaim public spaces gathered further momentum on Saturday as municipal authorities carried out a major anti-encroachment drive near the Junglighat workshop area under Ward No. 9, clearing illegal occupations and restoring a sizeable stretch of public land.

During the operation, the enforcement team dismantled and removed all unauthorized structures that had been erected on government land. The drive resulted in the successful recovery of 207 square metres of public land, which has now been restored to the public domain.

The operation was conducted smoothly and peacefully with the active support and close coordination of officials from the concerned departments, municipal staff, and the police. The authorities expressed their appreciation to all personnel involved for ensuring the successful execution of the drive.

Reiterating its resolve to protect public property, the administration warned that encroachments on government land will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It further stated that similar anti-encroachment drives will continue in other wards in the coming days as part of its sustained initiative to keep public spaces free from illegal occupations and ensure their intended use for the benefit of the community.
