
Port Blair:An alleged investment scheme that promised lucrative returns to investors across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has come under the scanner of the Crime and Economic Offences Police Station, with investigators now appealing to the public to come forward with details of their investments.According to the Crime and Investigation Department (CID), a case has been registered under FIR No. 28/2026 and an investigation is underway into allegations that a company and its representatives induced members of the public to invest money on the assurance of high returns and dividends. Investigators suspect that approximately ₹44 lakh may have been collected from investors across the Islands.Police said the allegations pertain to Shri Jayant Biswas, stated to be associated with M/s Jayant Biswas.com and Metalloids Technology Pvt. Ltd., which reportedly operated a branch office at Nayasahar in South Andaman. Investigators are examining claims that investments were mobilised through promises of attractive financial gains.As part of the probe, the CID is attempting to identify all individuals who may have invested money with the company or its agents. Officials believe that additional investors may not yet have approached the authorities and have urged them to assist in the investigation.Police have requested all persons having any claim, grievance or information related to the alleged transactions to contact the Investigating Officer, Sub-Inspector Shaji Mathew, and submit relevant investment records and supporting documents.Officials emphasised that the matter remains under investigation and that all allegations are subject to verification in accordance with law. The information provided by investors, they said, will be crucial in establishing the full extent of the alleged operation and ensuring a comprehensive investigation.
