Port Blair(Sri Vijaya Puram): A registration shake-up is on the cards for fishing vessels in South Andaman, with the Fisheries Department publishing a list of Non-Motorised, Mechanised/Motorized and sports fishing vessels proposed for cancellation of registration. The move follows verification of available records and an assessment of the present physical status of the vessels concerned.
For owners and other stakeholders, the notice comes with a clear deadline: just 10 days to raise objections, lodge claims or submit relevant information before the proposed cancellations move ahead.
The list has been published on the official websites of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and the Department of Fisheries. It has also been displayed at the Zonal Fisheries Office, Fisheries Sub-Stations and Fish Landing Centres across South Andaman.
Any person having a claim, objection or information relating to a vessel included in the list can submit a representation to the Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman, along with supporting documents, within 10 days from the date of publication of the notice. The Department has advised vessel owners and operators to check the list carefully and act within the stipulated period if they have any objection or documentary evidence concerning a listed vessel. It has also made it clear that representations submitted after the 10-day deadline will not be entertained.
