Port Blair(Sri Vijaya Puram): In a move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted diagnostic services at G.B. Pant Hospital, the Director of Health Services has accorded Administrative Approval and Expenditure Sanction (AA & ES) of ₹9 crore for procurement of consumables, including essential laboratory reagents required for routine diagnostic tests.
The sanction comes against the backdrop of a temporary shortage of certain laboratory reagents, which had resulted in some laboratory tests being unavailable at the hospital over the past few days.
The Health Department, however, said the issue has now been addressed and that supply orders for the required reagents have already been placed after completion of all requisite formalities.
The Department said the necessary reagents are expected to reach the hospital shortly, following which the affected tests will be restored and conducted as part of the normal laboratory routine.
The development assumes significance as G.B. Pant Hospital caters to a large number of patients requiring laboratory investigations and diagnostic services, making uninterrupted availability of reagents critical for timely diagnosis and treatment.
