Port Blair: Highlighting the healthcare challenges faced by residents of Namunaghar and adjoining villages, G. Bhasker, Chairman of the Campaign Committee of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), has urged the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to strengthen medical services at the Namunaghar Sub Centre by ensuring regular visits of doctors and deploying a physiotherapist.
In a representation to the Director of Health Services, Bhasker requested that doctors from the Community Health Centre (CHC), Tushnabad, be deputed to the Namunaghar Sub Centre twice a week, with each visit lasting at least three hours. He said the lack of regular medical consultations has been causing considerable inconvenience to local residents, particularly senior citizens, children and patients who are unable to travel to CHC Tushnabad for treatment.
Pointing to the growing demand for physiotherapy, he also appealed for the temporary deployment of a physiotherapist at the Sub Centre for one month.
According to him, the service would provide much-needed relief to patients suffering from orthopedic problems, neurological disorders and mobility-related ailments, many of whom are unable to access physiotherapy facilities because of distance and transportation constraints.
Bhasker expressed hope that the Health Department would consider the request on priority and take early action to improve access to quality healthcare for the people of Namunaghar and surrounding villages.
