Campbell Bay: A murder that sent shockwaves through Campbell Bay was cracked within just two hours of the registration of an FIR, with the Nicobar District Police swiftly tracking down and arresting the accused in a display of rapid investigation and coordinated policing.
The case came to light on Saturday after Gopal, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, lodged a complaint at Police Station Campbell Bay regarding the suspicious death of Kartick Mondal near the Fish Landing Jetty. Acting on the complaint, police immediately registered a case and launched an intensive investigation.
Investigators wasted no time in securing the crime scene, collecting crucial evidence and pursuing technical as well as field intelligence. The sustained operation enabled the police to identify and apprehend the accused within two hours of the FIR being registered.
